do you think we’ll qualify for government assistance?
NotsoObliiiiiiii asked:
I make 1,200 a month as a cna. My husband makes 800-1,000 a month as a waiter including tips. Combined on average we bring in 25,000 a year. Our rent is 725 a month. Our electric is 100 a month. We both have used cars we purchased for 3,000 each. We each pay 100 a month in car insurance. That brings us to 1,025. Then we spend 100 a week on groceries. That’s almost 1,500 a month. Then there’s gas…which kills us we end up spending 150 each every two weeks that’s 600 a month now we’re up to 2,100 a month. That leaves us with nothing extra and spending over 24,000 a year. It’s tight and we don’t have credit cards and we’re barely skating by. Do we meet the criteria for foods stamps and other assistance? I want to ask before I apply because I’ll be embarrassed if I get turned down.

why do people assume that those on government assistance don’t work?
linz_b asked:
i have read many questions here where people are asking for advice on how to go about applying for welfare, food stamps, medicaid, etc. a lot of times i have been appalled to read the hateful responses telling them to “get a job.” a great deal of these people DO work, but just can’t make ends meet. what’s the deal with attacking someone for using the system for what it was intended?

Where can I find information about government grants for home loan downpayment assistance?
MrsNance asked:
I applied for a grant for downpayment assistance on a house. Some woman keeps calling me asking me for personal information. I asked her for a web address to verify she was legit. She keeps giving me 2 different websites that don’t exist, and the number she gives me to call no one answers, only a recording. How can I find a legitimate grant program for downpayment assistance for a house?

Do all government grant programs require money from applicants? I’m interested in funding a small business.
latonya a asked:
I went to a National Grants conference and paid $1000 to receive assistance in applying for government grants. I later canceled the contract because I wasn’t sure if it were a bonafide company. But everything that I’ve found on the internet requests money for govt grant information. Is this normal?

How can a 46 year old disabled male who has a few thousand dollars left in the bank, get financial assistance?
Pelican asked:
Current Social Security and state aid laws deny financial assistance if a person has more than $3,000 in assets. That also includes a car, stock, bonds, life insurance, etc. Therefore, a disabled person must sell everything he owns and spend that money before he/she can apply for assistance (which can take 2 years to receive) I may be wrong but, it sounds like the government is trying to selectively remove the disabled from society. Hmmm…I was just thinking…If I own a refrigerator that keeps my food cold, I’d have to sell it before I could apply for assistance to buy food. Does anyone see a trend here? I think our president made a mistake. He should believe in the “trickle-down” theory, not the “trickle-on” theory. Anyone suggest anything?

My Brother needs Government Assistance?
chinostroza76 asked:
Hi, Please dont be quick to respond assumtions, judgements or critizism! I only need solutional answers. My brother is 24, he has been layed off three times in one year, for simple cut back layoffs. He attends U.T.I College Monday thru Friday from 6am to 12 noon. He applied for EDD twice and was denied. He also applied for assistance in Los Angeles and was not even heard, just shot down with a “Sorry you must be ok if your already in school”. He applies for jobs left and right, goes on interviews, but the jobs either conflict with his school schedule, which he cant change; or they simply never call him back. He lost his apartment near schoold. He doesnt have a car. Now he has to live with our mom at least 40 miles from school. But, my mom cant have him there for to long, because of her rent policy. Where can he apply or look for any other sort of agencies, organizations & programs that provide assistance to help him get back on his feet again.
Why would he quit school, when he hasnt landed the job. Plus if he quits school, he still has to pay 22K debt to the school. Your answer is very pessimistic and not resolutional at all. Besides he is almost done.
