Donna W asked:
My mom for some reason refuses to accept my attempt to go to college. I want to do something with my life but I can’t pay for college without help!! How can I apply to receive government assistance through fafsa if I don’t have my mom’s information?

It depends on how old you are. Fafsa asks for your parents info. to get their tax info…is there a way you can find out what it is without her knowing? Like….digging into her old files? or her old tax programs?
Have you tried applying for a scholarship through the school?
yes you can. My father refused to help. I explained the situation to my counsler, and they were very helpful. I filed like I didn’t have a father basically, because he wouldn’t help and we don’t have much of a relationship anyway. I would go talk to them and see what they can do for if, if worse comes to worse, say you don’t know where you mom is, this may be lying, but if sheis genuinly refusing to help you, then you deserve assistance. Dont let anyone try to stop your dreams!
are you 18? if not, you need her information to get financial aid. The only other way is through scholarships and you will have to write essays like crazy to get them!! You also have to search for most scholarships on your own. What about your dad?
I’m not sure if you are still living with your mom, or whatever, but it sounds like you need to have a talk with her. It is not healthy for her to try to limit you potential like that. Does she offer any explanation for withholding this information?
As for different ways to apply for FAFSA assistance, I would have no idea. Sorry.
you gotta get her tax return paper work in the mail, before she does
