Anyone ever work in a government agency call-center?
Walking on Sunshine asked:
I’ve interviewed for a position in a government call-center - the job basically entails answering questions and assisting people who’ve applied for cash benefits (government assistance - food stamps, medicaid, etc.) and I’m wondering if anyone has ever worked for an agency like this. If so, what did you like/dislike about it?
I’m a recent college grad and I’m desperate to get my foot in the door with a state agency, so I’m thinking of taking this job out of desperation. I guess I’m looking for the positives, so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

The job is boring and there are a lot of negative vibes from the clients. You are right though, that it’s best to get a foot in the door with the goverment. Lots of jobs are only promotional or available to regular goverment employees. Best to suck it up and take the job and look to move on. Don’t worry, tons of people do the exact same thing.
it’s cool to work CC , but it gets slow from time to time so think about CEU for school
